10 best movies about the end of the world

Monsters, ghosts, apocalypse – bleak prospects call for great movies.

While thinking about the end of the world, there are varying possibilities. Global warming, man-made weapons, nature’s way of starting life again, flesh eating monsters, arid deserts and humans turned into scavengers.

Yes, that genre of the end of the world tests our ability to think for the worst of scenarios and making survivalist movies. Best part: we dig those movies. Think of World War Z. Think of I Am Legend.  I mean even Will Smith and Brad Pitt approve of the genre.

For the best of end of the world apocalyptic cinematic venture, here is a list to fully quench your thirst.

A Quiet Place

What’s worse than the end of the world? A world where even a pin dropping would put your life in danger from the monsters lurking. You don’t make any noise, you just run for your life. John Krasinski and Emily Blunt bring you one of the best end of the world movies.

Mad Max: Fury Road

This movie is brilliantly made with contrast cinematography and a scary representation of post-apocalyptic wasteland where none other than Charlize Theron plays Furiosa. Water wars, turf wars are magnified in elaborate chase scenes and no moment is dull.

Children of Men

In the movie, the human race knows it will eventually be extinct. For a reason no one knows why, humans have become infertile. The movie is based on the dying hope of prolonging a race. One man finds the only pregnant woman and takes us on a journey.

I Am Legend

Will Smith and his dog moves about a dead city and are their only companion. The infected individuals move fast and feed on the healthy. I am Legend proves a valid point of helping other survivors to prolong the race or finding a cure, even if that means sacrificing your life.

Snowpiercer

Bang Joon-ho, the brilliant director who brought us Parasite, brings yet another apocalyptic movie starring Chris Evan and Tilda Swinton. While trying to stop global warming, a snow age gets triggered leaving the survivors on a permanently running train where people are divided by class.

This is the End

If end of the world is not your thing, maybe a parody would be more suited. Seth Rogan, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Michael Cera and Emma Watson stars in this biblical send of the world scenario while a Hollywood house party is in progress. Think of the worst things people might do in a crisis and this movie has it all.
