Priyanka Chopra was born to Ashok Chopra and Madhu Chopra in Jamshedpur. Both of her parents were physicians at the Indian army. Therefore, she has lived in different Indian cities such as Bareilly, Delhi, Leh etc.

She won the Miss World crown in 2000 at the age of 18.

Priyanka Chopra made her acting debut with the Tamil film 'Thamizhan' (2002), co-starring Vijay. Her Bollywood debut was with the film 'The Hero: Love story of a spy' which released in 2003.

Chopra stunned the entire world with her powerful performance as Alex Parrish in the ABC series 'Quantico'. However, she is the first Indian actor to play the leading role in a western TV series.

Chopra’s first acting audition was for 'Quantico'. This happened after she had appeared in over 50 films in Bollywood.

She established her own production house called 'Purple Pebble Pictures' in 2015. Their aim is to give chances to new actors, writers, directors and technicians. This company has produced several successful films including 'Ventilator', 'Paani', 'The Sky Is Pink' etc.

Priyanka Chopra's singing ability is also well-known to all. Her first recording was the song "Ullathai Killathe" in the Tamil film 'Thamizhan'. She became the first Bollywood star to be signed by the famous company 'Creative Artists Agency' in 2012. She has even received numerous awards for her singing.

Chopra's portrayal of a troubled model in 'Fashion' is considered as one of her best performances till date. This film brought her the National Film Award for Best Actress in 2010.

In 2016, 'Time' included her in their list of "100 most influential people in the world". She was even listed in Forbes' "World's 100 Most Powerful Women" in the next two years.

Aside from being a successful artist, Priyanka Chopra is also a social worker. She works for the unprivileged Indian children and provides support to their healthcare and education. Also, she is very much vocal about gender equality.

In 2016, the Government of India honoured Priyanka Chopra with Padma Shri.
