Whenever we hear about the country Egypt, the first thing that strikes in our mind is the Pyramids. But all we know about them is that in ancient Egypt, Pyramids were built so that the dead Pharaohs could get buried beneath them. But there's a lot more about them than you could ever imagine. - The Pyramid of Djoser, which was built around 2640 BC at Saqqara, is considered as the oldest Pyramid in Egypt.
- The ancient Egyptians believed in afterlife and the Pyramids were built so that the dead Pharaohs could enter into the afterlife.
- The Great Pyramid of Giza is regarded as one of the seven wonders in the world. Constructed between 2580 and 2560 BC, it is the oldest and largest among the three Pyramids in Giza. It weighs around 5,955,000 tons.
- It took over 2 million bricks to build each Pyramid. The bricks weighed between 2 and 70 tons each (heavier than elephants). It's still a mystery how they could lift those heavy stones to such height.
