181kms of Range: Ola S1 is Simply Brilliant

With a claimed range of 181 kilometres, the newly-launched electric scooters from Ola Electric are significant threats to other electric scooter manufacturers

For months, we have been standing by for the electric scooters from Ola Electric and now; they are finally here. What an entrance they have made! The spec-sheet is out of this world and Ola Electric is a serious threat to all the electric scooter manufacturers in the country. Before diving into the spec-sheet and other features of the two models, let us go ahead with the price-tags of the two scooters. 

Priced aggressively, the S1 model bears a tag of INR 99,999 whereas the top of trim S1 Pro variant retails at INR 1,29,999. These are ex-showroom prices, which combine the FAME subsidy. However, a patron will receive an enormous discount after including the state subsidy. For example, after adding the state subsidy in Rajasthan, one will be able to take home the S1 model at INR 89,968, whereas the S1 Pro model at INR 1,19,138. 

Now that we are done with the prices, let us inform you of what the scooters offer. The S1 is decorated with a 2.98kWh battery pack because of which; it grants an ARAI-certified range of 121 kilometres. On the other hand, the S1 Pro is armed with a 3.97kWh battery pack and it provides a declared range of 181 kilometres. 

Powered by the company’s ‘Hyperdrive Motor’, the scooters offer a peak energy yield of 8.5kWh and have a torque figure of 58Nm. The S1 can perform a top speed of 90 kilometres per hour whereas the S1 Pro can hit a top speed of 115 kilometres per hour. Both the scooters come with riding modes such as normal and sports. However, the S1 Pro has an extra mode called hyper. 

The scooters are loaded with features such as a large TFT instrumentation cluster that offers a host of information along with cruise control, hill hold mode and reverse mode. LED lighting here and there, the scooters are also equipped with a proximity unlock feature for easy locking and unlocking. Not to forget, the scooters also have onboard speakers which authorize a user to customize the melody of the scooter (a feature we have formerly noticed on Revolt motorcycles). 

Last but not least, one can fully charge the scooters at home within 4.48 hours (S1) and 6.30 hours (S1 Pro).
