2022 ninja 650: what’s new?

apart from new colour schemes, the sports tourer motorcycle has more or less remained the same!

in the 650cc segment, kawasaki ninja 650 is one of the best motorcycles present in the world. it is a motorcycle that has been carried out in a harmonized manner because of which, irrespective of being a fully-faired motorcycle; it rightfully falls in the sports-tourer category. be it india or any other country, the motorcycle has got tons of fans. however, a bulk of people may not be delighted with the new kawasaki ninja 650 2022.

what’s unique about the motorcycle? well, we are extremely sad to address that the motorcycle has remained more or less the same. mechanically, it has not been touched because the motorcycle continues to acquire power from its pre-gen 649cc, four-stroke, parallel-twin, dohc, eight-valve, liquid-cooled engine mated to a six-speed gearbox. the engine develops a peak power of 68hp and a maximum torque figure of 64nm. not to forget, it has carried forward the slipper assist clutch feature. for the record, the same powertrain is found on the naked streetfighter kawasaki z650.

moving on to the overall design of the model, the ninja 650 2022 bears no changes at all. from the front fairing kit to the rear seat unit, every part in the 2022 model is exactly identical to the 2021 model. however, the company has altered the colour schemes. the 2022 model is accessible in two new colour shades, such as metallic carbon grey and metallic matte graphenesteel grey. apart from these two colours, a krt edition has been introduced in the international markets.

in the hardware segment, the company has equipped the kawasaki ninja 650 with a 4.3-inch tft instrument cluster along with a bluetooth connectivity feature. a larger tank would’ve helped those who are into long touring, but the 650 has made a return with its old 15-litre fuel tank.

the motorcycle comes to a stalemate with the support of a 300mm disc on the front and a 220mm disc on the rear. although a sports-tourer, the ninja 650 offers adequate dampening capabilities with its 41mm upside-down telescopic forks on the front along with a 130mm horizontal back-link pre-load adjustable unit on the rear.

in terms of pricing, the 2022 ninja 650 has received a minor price-hike of inr 7,000 over the outgoing model. the updated new model retails at inr 6.61 lakh ex-showroom.
