3 Social Determinants For Physical Well Being

Racial discrimination is also one of the main reasons for the disruption of our physical well-being!

We all know the importance of incorporating a healthy lifestyle and nutritious food into daily life to stay healthy and have good appearance, but did you know that improving your health also depends on various 'social conditions'? Did you know that there are 3 such ‘social conditions’ whose presence or absence affects your physical well-being? In today’s article we will discuss in detail about the 3 most important social determinants that regulate our overall physical fortune.

Significant Impacts Of Social Determinants On Our Physical Well Being:

If a person is ill, he has to go to the doctor or be admitted to the hospital in case of emergency. Depending on the patient's disease, physicians prescribe medication and the patient recovers. But somewhere, there is a limit to this medical service. Medical care is not the ultimate way to fight all kinds of illnesses. There are still many complex incurable diseases whose treatment has not yet been found in medical science. But we can prevent many such serious illnesses through awareness. Also, the economic, geographical and political factors around us are responsible for this prevention beyond our own goodwill and efforts. Conditions such as our place of birth, the economic status of our family, the political situation in the region where we live, the literacy rate and the availability of adequate drinking water are called 'social determinants' that greatly affect our overall health, prosperity and fitness.

Economical Determinants:

Our financial status determines whether we can live a healthy life at all. Eating nutritious food, eating regular fruits, dried fruits and protein rich foods can increase your daily food budget. It costs more than Rs 300 to Rs 400 per day for food alone for a person to maintain healthy eating habits. Then the household expenses including electricity, water, gas, clothes are added. As a result, a person working in an unorganized sector will not be able to take care of his health as much as a highly paid employee or a businessman will because their incomes are not the same. In short, your earning capacity is a major social determinant that ensures your physical well-being.

Environmental Determinants:

We all know how important it is to drink plenty of water regularly to keep the body healthy. But, what if your area does not have an adequate supply of drinking water? Is it really possible to buy and drink mineral water every day? And anyone who can afford to buy mineral water on a daily basis will never settle in inland or underdeveloped areas where there is not an adequate supply of drinking water. Maintaining hygiene is a mandatory key to wellness. But if your home does not have an adequate supply of water for bathing or laundry, you will not be able to maintain hygiene even if you want to, which will have a direct effect on your physical well-being. Your physical health also depends on whether it is possible to get nutritious food in your area, the stability of the political situation there, the literacy rate in that area, etc.

Community Determinants:

Suppose there is no gym in your area. There is no empty road for morning or evening walks. You know how important daily exercises are to stay healthy. But, in this case, you are not able to use your knowledge despite your will. Suppose you have spent a lot of money on education in the hope of getting a good job and earning but the job opportunities around you are very limited. You will then be forced to do that work and as a result you will fail to earn enough despite your qualifications, which will adversely affect your overall physical well-being.
