5 Brothers Who Played Football Together: Part 1
It is a gift to have a sibling who plays football, especially one who is older.
It is certainly a privilege to be able to be a sportsman or pursue your personal passions. But it's much more of a joy to be able to share that devotion with a family member, particularly your siblings. Besides sharing all of his knowledge with you, he will also assist you in achieving your objectives. However, it doesn’t happen often for a flash to strike the same home twice when it does.
If you're curious about which players are brothers and why they don't form a famous duo on the same team, read on as we rank a few of the finest brothers in football history. Of the many other siblings who have shared a dominant passion for football, the brothers listed stand out.
Bobby & Jack Charlton
With England in 1966, the Charltons are one of just two sets of brothers to have won the World Cup together. In his club career, Bobby, a forward with a keen eye for goals, scored over 260 goals, 249 of which came to Manchester United between 1956 and 1973. Jack, a powerful central defender, played his entire domestic career for Leeds United, with whom he won the English First and Second Division championships, as well as the FA Cup and League Cup.
Rafinha & Thiago Alcântara
Both Thiago and Rafinha undertook their professional careers at FC Barcelona, but since then, the two have taken very separate approaches to pursue their club careers. On the international stage, the brothers also represented their respective countries separately, with Thiago choosing to represent Spain and Rafinha, Brazil.Eden & Thorgan Hazard
In 2012, Chelsea FC gained the services of Belgian brothers Thorgan and Eden Hazard, the latter from RC Lens and the former from LOSC Lille. Thorgan was sold to Borussia Monchengladbach in 2015, but Eden became a Chelsea legend, scoring over 100 goals and winning two Premier League championships.Thorgan scored 46 goals in five seasons with ‘Gladbach (the first was on loan), which, weirdly enough, led to a $28 million transfer to Borussia Dortmund, just a week before Eden departed Chelsea for Real Madrid.
