5 Habits to get better at Playing the Ukulele
Mastering on Ukulele skills are now getting easier
We often get this question asked how to get better at ukulele playing! Here are some tips to improve your ukulele playing, although rigorous practice can never be replaced by anything.
Get a lesson, keep practising
Always remember, there is no end in learning. So, never stop getting lessons. And try to keep the instrument beside your bed or on your couch, where you can easily notice the ukulele instead of keeping it in a locker. The more you see it, the more you would like to play it. So, this is a secret trick to get along with your instrument! When you are practising give your whole focus to it, leaving all other kinds of stuff in your mind, and break your practice time in pieces. Suppose there is Mr X, practising 20 minutes a day in 6 days a week and there is Mr Y, who practices 1 hour in 2 days a week. Here A will learn better than B, because of the continuity and the break after the practice. It helps in spreading the learning process and makes it better.
Play along with other instruments
The best way to be better at playing the ukulele is to play with other instruments. It helps in playing an instrument with a different melody, harmony and rhythm. Listen to the track you want to play repeatedly to get a better idea about it.
Focus on harder parts
We often tend to skip the harder part to lessen the work! But that’s not how you can do it! Always keep practising the harder part more to master it. Keep practising more and more, where you are getting stuck mostly.
Play with your local musicians and bands
When you practice with other musicians it is not only about fun! It helps you in exchanging ideas about playing a track with other musicians, as well as with other instruments, in reality, resulting in an improvement in your skills. You can also make your ukulele play recordings to see your mistakes thoroughly.
‘NO’ to the negative aura
People are there for concluding that you cannot do it! It’s mere their insecurity to make a statement like that. There are some difficulties for sure but that doesn’t mean that you won’t try it out! Practising is the key and the commitment is the issue. As long as you see where you want to be, stick with it! Keep playing the ukulele!
