5 most interesting superhero origin stories

Origin story: The moment a superhero is born.

All superheroes have stories where they turned to rid the world of anything bad. Origin stories are less about being super and more about being heroes.  While assessing origin stories of superheroes, as is done by psychologists, the origin stories have three major influences – trauma, destiny and chance. When Peter Parker became Spiderman, it was chance. Buffy the Vampire Slayer became to be a vampire slayer as was her destiny. Bruce Wayne became Batman as the effect of trauma. While the origin stories might have different and wildly varied, they do have one thing in common – no matter the reason they became superheroes, their strength and powers all go in being the boon in the face of bane.

Here are the most interesting superhero origin stories.

Spiderman: Into the Spider Verse: Into the Spiderverse: Miles Morales gets bitten by an Oscorp spider when he was 13, in his uncle Aaron Davis apartment. Unsure of his powers, Miles donned the suit of the web-shooting Spider Man. Miles was mentored by Peter Parker, Aunt May, Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane.

Wonder Woman: Wonder Woman laid the foundation for female superheroes. Diana of Themiscyra was raised in an island, born out of clay and raised by equally strong woman. As the Princess of Amazons, when Diana hears the return of Ares, she travels to the Man’s World to defeat him. Even without the knowledge that she herself was the secret weapon that could defeat Ares, she went into battle. Thus Wonder Woman was born.

Batman: Bruce Wayne witnessed the murder of his parent at a young age. The trauma made him seeking justice for people. He travelled around the world, learning different arts and with his wealth, he became a superhero with a Bat-suit and a Batmobile. No …he became a vigilante, an antihero. Batman is not the hero we want, but the hero we need.

Iron Man: From a playboy billionaire philanthropist to a sacrificing superhero, Iron Man is what his suit made him…but more. From a weapons manufacturer to a man who used his wealth for the greater good, Iron Man portrayed by Downey Jr. is the best turnaround superhero ever.

Captain America: A lanky army personnel, with a sense of patriotism, Steve was injected with a serum that not only make him muscular and strong but gave him extended youth. His sense of always doing what’s right did not get lost when he was buried in ice for years. When he came back as Captain America, his sense honour and justice remained intact.
