Water, the most soothing drink in the universe, is all we need for the parched soul. Be it hydrating your skin, quenching your thirst or having the body function correctly, all require proper water intake. With time we have inculcated many myths about when to drink water and when you should not drink water. Here are some eye-openers for the myths about water that we have believed with blinded eyes till now!

  1. Myth – 8 Glasses Of Water Is A Must Per Day-
How many times have we gone to bed drinking lesser than 8 glasses and been guilty about it! To put an end to the guilt trip, the amount of water you need to drink depends on your activity level, the place you live, weight, gender and diet. Women can suffice with two litres of any hydrating liquid in a day while men need about 12 glasses of water or hydrating juice to stay hydrated.
  1. Myth:Bottled Water Is Healthier Than Tap Water-
Depending on the source and brand of bottled water, the taste and minerals change, it is true you must make sure the tap water is clean and devoid of any unwanted minerals or pollutants that are harmful to the body, but depending blindly on bottled water instead of RO can be a big and expensive mistake in the long run.
  1. Myth:Water Is The Only Way To Keep You Hydrated-
Water sure is hydrating, but it is not the only source of hydration. Many natural beverages have high water content and will keep you hydrated. The food you eat also has 20% water content and gives you the necessary water intake. However, it is always better to look for pure mineral water when you are thirsty instead of sugar-filled soft drink.
  1. Myth:Winter Keeps You Hydrated-
This particular myth is the leading cause of dehydration during winters. The use of room heaters and humidifiers lower your room's humidity and keep your body parched and dry. This is the reason your skin and lips get flakey during winters. Instead of applying dabs of moisturizers, keep yourself hydrated and increase the fat content in your diet.
  1. Myth:Drink Water When You Are Thirsty-
If you are thirsty, your body is already dehydrated. Ignoring dehydration signs can be fatal, and early symptoms like dry skin, weakness, and headache should be noticed. The habit of drinking water more often should be inculcated to have a healthy life.
