Acne is a skin disease that starts when the skin pores get clogged due to excessive oil or dead skin cells. Home remedies for acne made with natural ingredients help to balance the skin’s oil levels, reduce redness and inflammation, clear dead skin cells, kill bacteria and prevent acne breakouts.

  1. Use Apple Cider Vinegar
A popular home remedy for acne, apple cider vinegar is made by fermenting apple juice or unfiltered juice from pressed apples. It has several organic acids that can kill bacteria present on the skin and reduce the appearance of scars.

You can take one part of apple cider vinegar and mix it with three parts of water. After cleansing your face, gently apply it on your skin using a cotton ball and leave it for 10-20 seconds. Wash it with water and pat dry your face with a soft towel.

  1. Honey-Cinnamon Mask
Honey and cinnamon are a good source of antioxidants and have antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. When applied to the skin, honey and cinnamon effectively reduce acne and related symptoms like itchiness and inflammation.

To make your honey-cinnamon mask, you need two tablespoons of honey and one teaspoon of cinnamon powder. Mix the ingredients to form a paste. Cleanse your face and apply this mask to your face and leave it for 10-15 minutes. Wash off the mask completely and pat your face dry.

  1. Apply Green Tea to the skin
Green tea has a high concentration of a group of antioxidants called catechins. Applying green tea to the skin provides relief from inflammation reduces sebum production and prevents growth of acne-causing bacteria.

Boil a cup of water, add some green tea leaves and allow it to steep for 3-4 minutes. Allow it to cool and apply gently on your skin using a cotton ball or a spray bottle. Let it dry for a few minutes and rinse it with normal water.

  1. Spot treatment with tea tree oil
Tea tree oil is an essential oil good for skin that helps fight inflammation and kills acne-causing bacteria. The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of tea tree oil reduce swelling, acne sores and redness of pimples.

To use tea tree oil on your skin, mix one part of the oil with nine parts of water. Apply this essential oil mixture on the affected areas using a cotton ball. You can apply an oil-free moisturizing gel after the tea tree oil application.

  1. Aloe vera gel
Aloe vera gel is an excellent skin moisturizer and contains antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. The salicylic acid and sulphur content present in aloe vera gel reduces redness, pain, soothes the skin and also prevents future acne breakouts.

You can apply the fresh gel from the aloe plant on your skin. Scrape the gel with a spoon and apply it directly on your face. Try spot application first, if you have sensitive skin.
