5 simple home remedies to treat whiteheads

Here's how to ward off whiteheads naturally at home.

Whiteheads are a common skin issue that people of all age groups struggle with. Also known as closed comedones, whiteheads refer to the enlarged hair follicles clogged with skin oils, cells, and bacteria. These usually occur when your skin pores get clogged with dirt or other impurities. Amongstall the reasons, the major ones include hormonal changes, excessive oiliness, hot & humid weather, taking certain medications, using too much cosmetics, poor hygiene, etc. While there are some beauty products available in the market, the best option is always to use natural ingredients to get rid of those nasty whiteheads.

Aloe Vera: Aloe vera is widely used to treat a wide variety of skin issues, including whiteheads. It is loaded with some cleansing properties that help remove the impurities from your skin. For the remedy, all you need to do is mix some fresh aloe vera gel with a few drops of lemon juice. Apply the mixture to the affected areas of your skin, leave it for 15 minutes and then wash off with cold water.

Honey: Honey is widely recognized as an effective remedy for whiteheads. It has several properties that kill the bacteria that can cause whiteheads on your skin. Also, it smoothens your pores and lightens all the scars. For the remedy, warm up some raw organic honey and then apply it directly to the affected areas of your skin. Let it sit for 15 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water.

Turmeric: Turmeric is a traditional remedy that is still used all across the world. It contains a goodnumber of antiseptic properties that significantly remove the whiteheads from your skin. First, prepare a thick paste using 2 teaspoons of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon rose water, and some honey. Apply the mixture to your skin, leave it for 15 minutes and then wash off with cold water.

Baking Soda: Baking soda is high in exfoliant properties that do wonders when it comes to removing whiteheads. Also, it helps maintain the pH balance of your skin effectively. First, prepare a thick paste using 2 teaspoons of baking soda with some water. Apply the mixture over your skin's affected areas, leave it for 15 minutes and then wash off with lukewarm water.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Being a powerful astringent, apple cider vinegar can remove the excess oil from your skin. Also, it is loaded with antimicrobial and antibacterial properties that significantly reduce inflammation on the skin - which further helps remove the whiteheads. All you need to do is apply some diluted apple cider vinegar directly to the affected areas, leave it for 20 minutes and then wash it off with cold water.

Apart from these, you can also go for neem leaves, sandalwood paste, tea tree oil, etc.
