5 Underrated Psychological Thrillers to Watch

Psychological thrillers are one of the most-watched movie genres as we are always on the hunt to find the next spine chilling, nerve-racking, and gripping storyline where we can't seem to get enough of that Adrenaline rush.

George Harrison rightly said we love to get scared.

So here's a list of top five underrated psychological thrillers which I'd put in the must-watch category but proceed with caution as they get pretty intense from the very beginning.

The Machinist (2004)

1 hour 42 minutes

Directed by American writer-filmmaker Brad Anderson, this film features Christian Bale as an insomniac machinist. As the film progresses, Trevor Reznik (Christian Bale) starts to have real difficulty in connecting the dots between reality and imagination. As he deteriorates further in paranoia, the movie flirts with the undertones of sin and guilt. In the end, be prepared to counter some shocking revelation.

Hush (2016)

1 hour 27 minutes

Always trust Mike Flanagan to deliver a gripping storyline and a few goosebumps along the way in his psychological thrillers and this one doesn't fail to deliver that. The plot revolves around a deaf writer who ventures to a writer's retreat into the woods and soon finds herself in the company of a masked killer.

Gerald's Game (2017)

1 hour 43 minutes

Fair warning, Gerald's Game is not for the faint-hearted. It tests your nerves at every second as you watch another Mike Flanagan masterpiece revealing a woman witnessing her husband dying in front of her while being handcuffed to the bed. As the night appears in the wood and she hears the door creak, strange things start happening pretty soon.

Zodiac (2007)

2 hours 42 minutes

When a "Zodiac" killer is on the loose, there is much little to do other than an intense manhunt. But director David Fincher filled the movie with small thrills which makes it a gripping watch. The cast is to die for, quite literally, from Robert Downey Jr, Jake Gyllenhaal to Mark Ruffalo in the lead, this movie is a must-watch for every thrill seeker.

The Uninvited (2009)

1 hour 27 minutes

This film is based on the famous Korean movie, A Tale of Two Sisters. Two teen sisters find themselves in the company of their father's new girlfriend after their mother's death and they must face the mysterious occurrences which confuse them as much as it deceives the audience. This one constantly plays mind games with the viewers only to deliver an unexpected ending. You absolutely can't miss out on this, especially if you find the Korean version.
