The popularity of a gluten-free diet has only soared with time. For the last several years, many celebrities have hopped onto the gluten-free bandwagon. While some are trying to manage their celiac disease or gluten sensitivity, others are just hoping on to improve their overall health or even lose weight. Here are a few popular celebrities who have chosen to live their life gluten-free.

  1. Jennifer Espisito (Actress)
After struggling with many health issues and debilitating symptoms for years, Jennifer Espisito was diagnosed with celiac disease. To combat its symptoms, she began her gluten-free journey. Determined to spread awareness about this disease and how going gluten-free can benefit those suffering, she founded the Jennifer’s Way Foundation. This foundation is, according to her website, “dedicated to the advancement of awareness, research, and education of celiac disease.”

Elisabeth too was diagnosed with the celiac disease after a decade of suffering and dealing with symptoms and not understanding why she felt so sick. Going gluten-free helped her regain her health, which inspired her to write the book, The G-Free Diet, sharing her inspiring story and providing information on going gluten-free.

When Ryan was interviewed by Men’s Health magazine, he discussed in length about how he changed his diet to combat a gluten allergy. He mentioned that going gluten-free had helped eliminate his symptoms completely.

Drew discussed his diet regimen when interviewed by Sports Illustrated, where he mentioned that he was allergic to dairy, nuts, eggs and gluten. He also stated how going gluten-free had bettered his health.

Zooey revealed that she can’t eat wheat in an interview to Vulture.com. She stated that she gets her meals specially made by personal chefs and delivered on set because her health deteriorates if she consumes gluten.

Lady Gaga switched to a gluten-free diet in 2012. This was to lose weight for her international tour. Gaga has never mentioned having any sensitivities to gluten. She went gluten-free to improve her energy levels and facilitate weight loss. However, the celiac disease community was not supportive of this as they felt it took the focus away from the disease and made gluten-free a fad diet.

Miley tweeted in 2012 that she had a gluten and lactose allergy. Many were concerned about her health as she had lost a significant amount of weight, but Miley attributed this change to going gluten-free.
