7 simple home remedies for dark knees and elbows

Dark knees and elbows is a common skin issue, especially in the South Asian countries. This occurs as a result of several factors such as friction, prolonged sun exposure, hormonal imbalance, certain skin diseases like eczema etc. While consulting with a dermatologist is obviously the best option, there's also a number of home remedies that may help you get rid of the darkness around knees and elbows in a very effective manner.

Lemon: The acidic nature along with the bleaching properties of lemon lighten the skin tone to a large extent. Also, it's loaded with antioxidants that support skin regeneration, thus whiten the dark areas. All you need to do is massage some lemon juice gently on your knees and elbows.

Turmeric: Turmeric is packed with curcumin that restricts the excess production of melanin, thus reduces the dark complexion of skin. Mix some turmeric powder with one tablespoon of milk and half tablespoon of honey, gently massage the mixture on your knees and elbows, leave it for 20 minutes and then wash off with warm water.

Curd: Curd is a natural moisturizer which also works great when it comes to brightening the dark skin patches. Mix some curd with one tablespoon of vinegar as well as gram flour, apply the mixture on your knees and elbows, leave it for 20 minutes and then rinse off with warm water.

Cucumber: Cucumber is filled with natural bleaching properties that moisturize the skin and remove dead skin cells, both of which result in lightening the dark skin tone. All you need to do is rub a fresh slice of cucumber on the affected area for around 10 minutes and then wash off with cold water.
