A few ideal dog breeds for people staying alone

“The dog is a gentleman; I hope to go to his heaven not man’s” rightly said by Mark Twain in his well acknowledged novel ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’.

Undoubtedly dogs can be the best friends of human beings. They are so fond of their masters that they can give their lives too for that family which has given them shelter. That’s the reason nowadays most families prefer to have a dog with them. What kind of a dog will be perfect for you and your family, depends on your lifestyle and preference. Are you a single woman or do you stay alone? Then you need a breed that can provide you safety and companionship. A large breed with a thundering bark would be more appropriate for you than a shrill voiced lap dog. When choosing your new friend, you should consider the following breeds –

American Pit Bull Terrier

The American Pit Bull Terrier looks tough and it’s really a strong breed with masculine body, thick jaws and a strong neck. In several cases it has been noticed that an APBT has saved its owner from danger. Like any other breeds, they also have some basic characteristic features. They are good with kids but not so friendly with other dogs. They are more or less healthy and muscular, but some of them can have some issues like hip dysplasia and heart disease. Their average life span is around 12 to 14 years.

German Shepherd

German Shepherd can be one of the best choices for a person staying alone. Because they have huge voices and a fierce look. Although they are the most popular pets in the USA, a huge number of this breed are appointed with the army and police because of their fierce reputation. They are very loyal and intelligent and can be socialized too. In most cases they are also used as service dogs

Boxer

The name can be earned from using their front paw. But, some believe that it was just named after a similar breed. However, Boxer is a great choice if you stay alone because they are fun, playful and can definitely provide you with companionship. They are good for watching your house and they are also affectionate for other pets too. If you can use positive reinforcement methods, they can prove themselves as very intelligent.

So, if you are living alone, make your choice soon, because you’ll surely feel good that you did after having one of them.
