Choui Fong Tea Plantation is located in Chiang Rai, Thailand. It spreads over an area of 1.6 sq. km at the top of a hill and is bestowed with nature's unspoiled beauty. It's well-maintained, and hence, attracts tourists from all across the world. It offers a number of tours which you can opt to learn the manufacturing process of teas.
With the traditional farming methods, Choui Fong produces a variety of teas such as matcha, oolong, black tea, and more. It has won several awards (including The Best Tea Business Entrepreneur from Thailand Coffee & Tea Award in 2017) for the tea's quality over the years.
History of Choui Fong Tea Plantation
Choui Fong Tea Plantation was founded in 1979 by Thawee Wanaspitaksakul. With the support of the Royal Family of Thailand, this tea plantation became hugely popular within a very short period. It started exporting teas to foreign countries, and soon, created a name in the international market.
Now, it is considered among the best tea producers in Thailand.
About the Plantation
There are two branches of Choui Fong Tea Plantation - one is located in the Mae Chan district, while the other one is in Mae Fah Luang district.
The one in the Mae Chan district is more popular than the other. It covers over 1 million square meters of land, amidst the laps of mountains. There's a restaurant serving a variety of teas, snacks, and other beverages.
The one in Mae Fah Luang covers 800,000 square meters of land and is located at an elevation of about 1200 meters above sea level. It offers a majestic natural view that leaves all visitors in awe.
Things to Do Here
The most rewarding activity here is to take a long stroll along the pathways and enjoy the view of tea plants sprawling over miles. Also, if you are a tea lover, make sure to sip a cup of tea at the local cafe here. You can also buy some raw tea leaves from the local store. Besides, you can relish various delicious dishes such as spaghetti, green tea cake, hot chocolate, etc.
