The Meddler
This 2016 film, written and directed by Lorene Scafaria, stars Susan Sarandon, Rose Byrne, and Michael McKean alongside J.K. Simmons. The movie's plot revolves around an ageing widow, Marnie, played by Susan Sarandon, who is lonely and heartbroken. The story picks up when her daughter, Lori, played by Rose Byrne, moves to Los Angeles and Marnie follows with the hope of finding a purpose for her life. All this leads to her interfering in her daughter's life, and soon her leading to meeting new people. And Simmon’s character in the movies begins to develop a romantic relationship with Marnie.
Worlds Apart
This2015 Greek drama comes with three different narratives, each completely separate from the other. While each story follows a love story between a foreigner played by J K Simmons and a Greek, each represents a different generation falling in love during a socioeconomic turmoil, eventually connecting all three of them as a single story in the end. This is one of the lesser-known unique and intriguing narrations in Hollywood that transits a story through generations with love.
The Ladykillers
This 2004 film by Coen Brothers is a remake of the 1955 British Ealing comedy film of the same name written by William Rose. This remake shows Simmons portraying the role of Garth Pancake. On the other side of the law, the latter is a demolitions expert, a member of a criminal gang anxious to break into the adjoining casino but posing as a classical musician.
