A quick guide for dressing on a hot summer day

Keep it loose, breathable and light for summers

Summer is a tough season to pass by when it comes to dressing up. Though you wish to wear a lot of clothes, the scorching sun outside doesn’t allow you to hence leaving you to only a few reliable ways to dress for the sweltering heat and humidity. While wearing cool light colours is the key to not letting the harsh sun rays affect the skin, at the same time the fabric and fitting of the choice of cloth also matters. Anything body-hugging tight leads to a lot of discomfort in summers, and anything loose baggy clothing on the other hand is a blessing in disguise. So it is often a struggle during summers when venturing out as to what to wear and what not to. But fret not, here is a simple guide for summer wears that you can use to re-do your wardrobe for the summer.

Light-colours. The best and easy guide to summer dressing is opting for light colours. White being the topmost pick, so white dresses and button-down shirts that reflect rather than absorb the sun's rays are always the best choice.

Sleeveless or loose sleeves. Under the hot piercing heat sun the ideal way of dressing is to let as much as airflow through the body and clothes as much as possible. Opt-out from going fully strapless, but you can consider sleeveless arms, off-shoulder, short-sleeve button-ups or puff-sleeve blouses.

Loose-fitting clothing. While wearing sleeveless is one way of letting full airflow happen, wearing loose baggy clothing is equally important. Loose-fitting clothing should be the first choice in the summer. One can opt for cropped, wide-leg pants, loose shirts, oversize blouses, dresses, and skirts with ample room to breathe.

Choose fabric wisely. When it comes to summer what you choose to wear is up to you but what you can definitely do is choose a breathable fabric. This means a fabric that lets the air pass through it letting the skin breathe too. Synthetic fabric usually isn’t breathable, so it is advisable to leave it out on clothing that you are sure will make you sweat more. Instead, opt for 100 percent linen and cotton during summers.

No to jeans. Great for winters and fall, but for summer it is the heaviest fabric to wear. Denim in summer is equal to torture. Be it stretchy jeans or skinny jeans, you will find it too warm for summer style. So instead, opt for lightweight cotton or linen pants. In case, denim is your first love and there is nothing but denim you want to wear, then opt for wide-leg or loose jeans that will allow air circulation.

Lastly, say yes to dresses. A comfy cotton or linen dress is always an easy and go-to option for any time of the day.
