A Review Of The Film ‘Dasvi’ Starring Amitabh Bachchan And Yami Gautam

The Zill Of Study 

Nobody is born corrupted. The social situation makes them to be. Indian politics has reached an extraordinary level of corruption and it is filthy with mostly uneducated people. The reality is that the majority of the Indian people are uneducated till now, or have left academics even before completing their school level studies. Hence, the present political scenario is quite obvious. Dasvi is a film that shows this reality and the protagonist here, exhibits the necessity of education to eradicate corruption and bring social progress.

Story of the film

A corrupt and criminal minded politician Ganga Ram Chowdhury, the Chief Minister of his state, gets arrested. Ganga sets Bimmo, his wife, as the Chief Minister of the state. After spending a few days in jail, Ganga plans to get out of jail, but Bimmo gets changed so much and becomes greedy about her position of Chief Minister. Getting no other way, Ganga plans to sit for Secondary Exam, 'Dasvi', but fails.

But, during that period, when he starts reading, he feels a great interest in studies. As much as he reads, he gets more attracted towards studies and also feels the importance of education, honesty and hard work. So, he asks the jailer to register his name for next year's Dasvi exam. The jailer thinks that it is Ganga's plan to get out of jail, but Ganga's hard effort makes her realise the truthfulness of his efforts. After a lot of hard work, Ganga passes Dasvi and becomes a kind hearted honest politician at the end.

Actors on screen

The character of Chief Minister Ganga Ram Chowdhury is played by Abhishek Bachchan, and he has played it so great. Yami Gautam plays the role of jailer, IPS Jyoti Deswal. Renowned theatre artist Nimrat Kaur played the role of Ganga's wife Bimla Devi Chowdhury, Bimmo. Chittaranjan Tripathi acted as Tandon, CM's secretary. Danish Hussain played the role of librarian Rai Bareli. Sachin Shroff played tge character of opposition leader Sandeep Sangwan. Shakti Singh played as Chandrasekhar Azad. Besides, Manu Rishi Chanda, Arun Kushwah, Abhimanyu Yadav, Rohit Tiwari, Mubashir Bashir Beigh, Dhanbeer Singh have played other leads in the film.

Artists behind the screen

Ram Bajpai wrote this awesome story. The film was directed by Tushar Jalota. Screenplays were written by Sandeep Leyzell, Ritesh Shah and Suresh Nair. Music direction and background score was done by Sachin- Jigar. The film was cinematographed by Kabir Tejpal and edited by Sreekar Prasad.
