Pabong is a small hamlet located in the lap of the Himalayas, in the Kalimpong district of West Bengal, India. It lies approximately 4700 ft above sea level and is bordered by the dense green pine forests of Neora Valley National Park. Also, it offers a breathtaking view of the surrounding valleys and snow-covered mountains.

Pabong is a relatively lesser-known tourist destination, especially when compared to its neighboring Lolegaon. Hence, it remains free of hustle and bustle and draws those who crave solitude in nature.

The entire region of Pabong is picturesque in the truest sense of the term. It provides shelter to an amazing range of bird species (including swift, minivet, etc.), making for a paradise for bird watchers.

How to Reach

It's a bit troublesome to reach Pabong, as it is located in a completely remote area. The nearest airport is in Bagdogra, from where you can hire a taxi to Charkhole, and then a local vehicle to your destination.

You can reach Pabong from New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, and several other locations as well.

Best Time to Visit

Pabong, thanks to its elevation, has a quite pleasant climate. So, it's open to visitors all year round. However, the best time to visit here is spring, as the region gets packed with an excellent range of exotic birds and flowers during this season.

Some tourists prefer winter to visit here, to get a whole different experience.

Pabong is a majestic place offering lots of rejuvenation to visitors. The best thing to do here is to take a long stroll and enjoy the grandeur of serenity.

When you are here, it's advised to wake up early in the morning and enjoy the splendid view of Mount Kanchenjunga with a cup of hot coffee.

It's a good location for adventure lovers as well. Hence, on a fine morning, go out for a trek across the Neora Valley National Park. Here, you can spot various species of birds as well.
