British actor Mark Strong is best known best for his striking, unusual face and look, mind you, the bald head gives the actor an edge. The 58-year-old actor started his acting career with series such as multiple seasons of Prime Suspect, Our Friends in the North, and The Long Firm - for which he received a BAFTA nomination. Strong made a transition to films and became popularly known for his villainous roles in films such as Sharpe's Mission and portrayed romantic lead. To End All Wars

This 2001 war film stars Robert Carlyle, Kiefer Sutherland, and Sakae Kimura, besides Mark Strong. The film is directed by David L. Cunningham and is based on Through the Valley of the Kwai, an autobiography of Scottish captain Ernest Gordon. Set in a Japanese prisoner of the war labour camp, the film shows the three and half years of the struggle and efforts of the inmates who are building the Burma Railway during World War II.

Sunshine

This 2007 science fiction psychological thriller film by director Danny Boyle takes place in the year 2057. The film's story follows a group of astronauts who have set out on a dangerous mission to reignite the dying Sun as the Earth is leading to a freezing situation. Mark Strong essays the role of a Pinbacker, the murderous captain of Icarus I, which was the first ship sent to reignite the Sun. According to director Boyle, he described the Pinbacker character is a representation of fundamentalism and the presence of such a character as an example of an object that breaks the pattern of realism.

Endgame

This 2009 British film is based upon the book titled The Fall of Apartheid by Robert Harvey. The film stars William Hurt, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Jonny Lee Miller, besides Mark Strong. The script of the film magnifies the final days of apartheid in South Africa while focusing on secret talks held between the African National Congress and the members of the National Party. As for the film, its main focus is on bringing to screen the relationship that developed between the then political giants. Mark Strong essays the role of Niel Barnard, the head of the National Intelligence Service.
