The Premier League is famous for last-day title deciders and over the years, the league has given birth to several dramatic last-day deciders

The English Premier League is famous for last-day title deciders. Since its inception, several teams have won the title on the last day of the tournament. While all last-day title deciders were exciting, in the following paragraphs, we have listed the ones we feel were the best.

Manchester City vs. Queens Park Rangers

The season was 2011/2012 and both the Manchester-based teams were in contention to win the Premier League. On the last day of the tournament, Manchester City was playing against Queens and United was against Sunderland. Both the matches were being played simultaneously. Manchester United won the match and started celebrating their title win. However, within minutes, the news of City defeating Queens Park arrived and the dugout of Manchester United went silent.

Manchester City and Liverpool

In recent years, these two teams have fought for the title till the last day on several occasions. In 2018/2019, the two teams battled it out till the last game with City lifting the trophy with a one-point difference. This season (2021/2022), the two teams again engaged in a close quarter battle with City once again lifting the trophy. Blackburn’s loss, United’s bad luck

In 1994/1995, United and Blackburn fought for the title till the last day of the tournament. On the last day, Blackburn lost their match at Anfield. To win the trophy, United needed a win against West Ham, but sadly, Ham’s goalie Miklosko did not allow United to win. The match between Ham and United ended in a draw because of which, the trophy went to Blackburn. It was Burn’s first title since 1914.

United’s epic comeback

In the January 1995/1996, United was 12 points behind Newcastle United. However, on the last day of the tournament, both teams needed a win. United won the match against Middlesbrough and reached 82 points. Newcastle drew against Tottenham and settled with 78 points.

Another United classic

In 2007/2008, Manchester United won the Premier League on the last day. The other team that was in contention to win the League was Chelsea, who failed to keep composure. However, what made that victory special was what happened after 10 days. 10 days after the Premier League ended, both the teams met each other in the Champions League final. Once again, United won the game and the trophy.
