All You Need To Know About Growing A Lotus Pond At Home

Like growing flowers as a part of your living room? Here is how to develop a beautiful lotus pond all by yourself.

There is nothing like a nice under table lotus pond in your room. Lotuses are usually found in pink, red, white, lavender, blue and yellow. Blooming from early to late summer, they are majestic plants that make your room look loyal. Closely related to lilies, they create foliage to hold stalks up on the surface to make the tank look full and pretty.

Imagine how beautiful the tank will look with perfect lighting when you have your guests seated to admire the space. Wish to grow one on your own? Here is all you need to know!

Growing Lotus In Pond Or Container-

Keeping lotus in the container is probably a good idea. Even if you are placing it at the bottom of the pond. This makes your fertilisation process easy.

Soil Requirements-

Lotus needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight to bloom and thrive properly. The soil is made especially for pond water. It contains topsoil or clayey soil. Do not use garden soil with peat and moss so that the organic matter rots the plant stalks. You can use a small amount of compost soil with 80% topsoil and 20% blend.

How To Plant The Lotus Tubes-

The bottom part of the lotus includes roots called a tuber. When you purchase a lotus plant from the nursery, you will get tubers. They might look dry, but they can be revived quickly. Plant them as soon as you bring them from the local nursery.

Planting Procedure-

Use a watertight container without any drainage holes.

Fill the container with 4 inches of soil.

Fill with water to wet the soil to submerge the surface.

Cover the tuber with small amounts of soil. Let it fill till 4 inches and keep the tips pointing upwards.

Keep the tuber in place, and when you see the water gets muddy, put it in a larger pond with lots of sunlight to keep the plant growing.

How To Get More Blooms-

The proper plantation is essential. Give your plant 6 hours of sun receiving time. Fertilization is important. Once you get the aerial pads, fertilise the plant and push the stems down to the lotus plants.
