All You Need to Know About the Oktoberfest 2022 in Munich, Germany

Oktoberfest is an event that takes place in Munich, Germany every year but the event could not be organised for two years because of Covid-19.

After a gap of two years, the famous Oktoberfest was held from 17 September to 3 October. The festival has been taking place for the last 209 years continuously in Munich, Germany, and is one of the most famous traditional festivals in the world.

On April 29, 2022, Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter at a press conference announced it. It’s a fest famous for beer, traveling fun fairs, amusement rides, foot-tapping music, performers in folk costumes, and lots of music.

People from every part of the world take part in it and according to search engine Kayak, lots of Indians have also shown interest in it, and search for flights to Munich increased by 90 percent and inquiries about hotels saw a rise too. This shows a renewed interest among the Indians who were excited to visit Germany for this famous and iconic festival.

The Oktoberfest opening ceremony takes place in the Schottenhamel tent, the traditional Wiesn tapping is planned, and then the world's largest folk festival will start with the traditional "O'zapft is!".

Other events that take place during Oktoberfest are the parade of the Wiesnwirte onto the festival grounds, and the huge procession of people in traditional costumes takes place. Then a stand-up concert under Bavaria happens followed by a firecrackers shooting.

The Oktoberfest 2022 will consisted of all Oktoberfest’s famous events like parades, family days, traditional concerts, and lots of eating and drinking.

Besides the opening and closing day of the event, the weekends are the busiest days of the week when lots of people flock in to enjoy and have a nice time with family and friends. One thing you should be cautious about is that you should not take your car to the fest. The festival place is just ten minutes walking distance from the Hauptbahnhof, Munich’s main train station, and calling a cab is also a good option.

The last night of the festival takes place in the famed Hacker-Pschorr tent, and the closing ceremony includes an intimate and cherished, candle-lit setting with around 10,000 people. The sparklers are lit, the lights will get dimmed, and everyone sings together in harmony and pray for peace all around.
