All You Need To Know About The Tata Group And Their Achievements Over The Year

Established in 1868, Tata group is the largest multinational conglomerate in India, and was founded by Jamsetji Tata.

Headquartered in Mumbai, the Tata Group provides its services in over 150 countries. Founded by Jamsetji (Jamshedji) Nusserwanji Tata, also known as “the father of Indian industry”, Tata group is (literally) everywhere, from the automotive sector to airlines, hotels, FMCG, IT, steel, cement, tea, salt, finances, and in many more sectors. Today, it employs around 935000 people, and the Tata Group is not only a business group but the pride of India.

Everything about the empire, and some of their noticeable achievements

Firstly, Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata, an Indian pioneer industrialist, laid the foundation of the Tata Group in 1868. It started with an investment of Rs 21000. He set four goals for the group, setting up a steel company, a hotel, a learning institution, and a hydroelectric plant. He aimed to set up a world-class organization, for the Indians, by an Indian. He was the one who established the city of Jamshedpur.

While he could not live to see his vision come true, the next generations of the company followed his ideologies. Some other future notable leaders of this group include J.R.D Tata and Ratan Tata, who gave the company a new modern look according to changing times. Today, Tata group has 29 publicly listed companies, with a market capitalization of $340 billion.

Firstly, in the automobile industry, Tata Motors is India’s one of the largest car manufacturing companies. They have some notable passenger vehicles to commercial vehicles. Not only in India, but Tata Motors also operates in the UK, South Africa, South Korea, and many countries. Even the luxury car brand Jaguar Land Rover is a subsidiary of Tata Motors Limited. The company has a market capitalization of Rs. 1,37,848 crores.

In the Airline Industry, Tata took their first steps in 1932 with the name Tata Airlines. Later, it changed its name to Air India and was taken over by the Government of India in 1953. But in the year 2022, it again came back to Tata Group. Tata Group also has an 83 percent share of Air Asia, 51 percent share of Vistara, and Air India is now entirely owned by Air India Limited (Tata Group).

Tata Group also has its presence in Consumer and Retail Companies like Tata Chemicals, products like tea, coffee, foods and beverages in Tata Consumers, India’s leading watch, jewellery, eyewear manufacturing company Titan, leading AC, Refrigerator company Voltas, Tata Steel, and in one of India’s largest company TCS.
