American actor and narrator Morgan Freeman movies we should watch at least once

Besides his acting, it is his authoritative voice that makes him one of his kind

Right from his acting to his authoritative commanding voice, Morgan Freeman is a complete package of an artist. An actor, director, and narrator, Freeman has a range of film genres and unique characters to his credit. However, he is particularly known for his distinctive deep voice. In a career spanning over three decades, Freeman though started out late in the acting but his career graph and choices make for his amazing filmography. It was at the age of 50 that he secured a role in Street Smart for which Freeman received his first Academy Award nomination. From there on there was no looking back and went on to achieve five Oscar nominations and a win for Best Supporting Actor, besides lending his voice to various great narrations.

The Shawshank Redemption This 1994 film by director Frank Darabont stars Tim Robbins besides Morgan Freeman and is based on a Stephen King short story of the same name, The Shawshank Redemption. Though the film was a major disappointment upon its initial release soon the audience grew to make it a success. The story revolves around two prisoners who befriend each other in prison and tells their journey inside the prison, to hatching an escape plan from there. It was Freeman’s absolute subtle narration of the film that landed him a Best Actor nomination.

Unforgiven This 1992 Clint Eastwood directional starring himself, Richard Harris, and Morgan Freeman as the lead's best friend, is refreshing. This movie was instrumental in shedding the decades of Hollywood shimmer applied to the genre of Wild West. Reviving this western genre which had fallen out of favor this film emerges as a success. Set in the backdrop of the 1880-81 period, the film portrays how a former gunfighter by profession, Munny played by Freeman, takes up one last job with the help of his old partner.

Invictus Another Clint Eastwood directional, this sports drama also stars Matt Damon besides Freeman. With his exceptional directional skills at work, Eastwood brought out the brilliant portrayal of South African President Nelson Mandela by Freeman. Though it is a sports film in its entirety the execution of the film is actually about redemption and overcoming the suffocating history of apartheid in South Africa.

Million Dollar Baby In another amazingly brilliant partnership with director Clint Eastwood, also starring in the film, Million Dollar Baby saw Freeman giving yet another soulful performance. This sports drama is a story of a young determined woman who wants to become a professional boxer and is working hard to achieve the goal. And more so giving a lesson that where there is a will there is a way.
