Basic Dos And Don’ts Before Your Zumba Class

Dance your way to fitness!

Zumba is when you want to add fun into your fitness. Like most popular workout regimes, even Zumba has certain dos and don’ts that are basic and non-negotiable to the workout routine. Zumba as a workout is inspired from the Latin dance form combined with fitness training that was first popularised by the Colombian fitness trainer, Alberto Perez. Zumba combines aerobic and Latin dance moves to form a fitness program that’s fun, interesting and equally exhilarating. The secret is to keep your heart rate pumping high as you dance, move and workout all at the same time. Zumba is known to be one of the fastest ways to lose weight and stay fit. Here are a few basic dos and don’ts that you must follow if you are a beginner at Zumba.

Do Wear Comfortable Clothes And Shoes

Your tight gym trainers and shoes will not help you move comfortably during your Zumba sessions. Make sure that you are wearing clothes that are comfortable that can help you move freely and efficiently. It is advised to wear clothes made of material that can absorb sweat fast since Zumba is a high intensity workout that will make your body sweat and burn a lot of fat fast. The clothes should be light weighted and easy to move your body in. For shoes, simple sneakers are perfect for they help you move freely. Zumba would require you to move and hop your body around a lot. Naturally, shoes with low tread are perfect for a killer zumba session.

Don’t Starve Yourself Before Zumba Session

True to all high intensity workouts, do not go into a Zumba session in an empty stomach. Trust us, your body would need all the energy it can get so as to break the sweat to keep you fit. Munch on something light like nuts and fruits before going to your Zumba class. This will charge up your body for the calorie burning session it is about to endure.

Do Drink Water 20 Minutes Before Zumba Session

Just like eating is necessary before your Zumba session, keeping your body hydrated is equally important. Drink water at least 20 minutes before your session to make it ready for the intense sweat breaking session. Avoid drinking water just before your session starts because that would not allow your body to prepare and get hydrated fast.
