Act of Killing (2012):

This Indonesian documentary is based on the horrific genocide that took place in Indonesia in 1965 and 1966. Over one million people were killed in this genocide. 13th (2016):

The main idea of this documentary is about the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution, which ended the slavery concept in American history. How the abolition of slavery took place in America and the current situation in America is the subject of this film. There is also strong criticism of racial discrimination and exploitation of the law on blacks. This 100-minute long documentary, directed by Ava DuVernay, was nominated for an Oscar in 2017.

Black Fish (2013):

The controversy surrounding the lives of captive killer whales and their lives, as well as their obstacles in the battle of life, is covered by this famous American documentary. An Orca Whale named Tilikum is the victim and main subject of this film. It is clear from this that Whales have to endure various obstacles and tortures in their lives. Their lives became miserable. This British documentary film directed by Asif Kapadia was quite popular in the last decade. This movie brings to the fore pathetic experiences of singer Amy Wine house’s life. This documentary talks a lot about Amy's life struggles, death and causes of being tortured. This documentary has more than a hundred interviews with different people about Amy. The film won the award for Best Documentary at the 28th European Film Awards.

Director Bing Liu is a very well known name in the world of documentary because of his debut film, Minding The Gap. This is a documentary about Bing Liu and his two friends growing up and the obstacles in their lives. This film has received great reviews from movie critics.
