Grave of the Fireflies:
This movie is based on a true story of war and its impact on common people. In June 1945, most of the areas were destroyed in Kobe, during the late times of World War II. Two young orphans, Setsuko and Seita, manage to survive the bombing but their mother later gets critically injured and dies. Seita Yokokawa, the 14-year-old teen protagonist, is now in charge of his sister and himself. As the story develops the director portrays common people's life and suffering during a war. Grave of the Fireflies is also known as one of the most heartbreaking animated films.

In 2003 Spirited Away won the Academy Awards for Best Animated Feature Film. This film shows the journey of ten years old Chihiro who accidentally gets lost in another world of spirits. The film begins with Chihiro and her parents driving to visit their new home. On the way, Chihiro's father tries to take a shortcut and stops their car in front of a gate. They go through the tunnel and discover a restaurant stocked with mouth-watering foods. Her parents start to eat and end up becoming pigs. Chihiro's journey has begun now in a different world.
