Best Power-to-Weight Ratio Motorcycles Under Two Lakh

Lesser the weight, better the performance of the motorcycle

When a person purchases a motorcycle, he or she focuses on the power figure of the motorcycle. More the number, the merrier the person. However, he or she often forgets to check the weight of the motorcycle, as majority of the individuals are not aware that the weight of the motorcycle determines the performance of the motorcycle. In mechanical language, this factor is called the power-to-weight ratio. For those who really care about a motorcycle’s performance, we have curated a list of the best power-to-weight ratio motorcycles available in India under INR 2 lakh.

Husqvarna Svartpilen & Vitpilen 250- Hailing from the country of Sweden, the 250cc Husky twins offer the best power-to-weight ratio under INR 2 lakh. Powered by a 249cc, liquid-cooled engine which is also observed on the KTM Duke 250, the Huskies make 30hp of power and has a weight of 166 kilograms. When calculated, the Huskies offer 180.7hp of power per tonne.

Jawa Perak- Honestly, we did not expect the Jawa Perak to secure the second position. After all, when one looks at it; the Perak is a long muscular looking motorcycle. However, the 175 kilograms of weight with 30.6hp of power helps the Perak attain a power-to-weight ratio of 174.8hp per tonne.

Suzuki Gixxer 250- The Gixxer 250 is powered by a 249cc engine that generates a maximum power of 26.1hp at 9,300rpm and a torque of 22.2Nm at 7,300rpm. Weighing merely 156 kilograms, the Gixxer 250 offers an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 169.8hp per tonne.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 SF- The Gixxer 250 SF produces a slightly lesser power-to-weight ratio of 164.5hp per tonne because of the added weight it dons from the bulky fairing kit. Hidden inside the fairing kit is the same powertrain that runs the Gixxer 250.

Jawa Forty Two- Another muscular cruiser on the list is the Forty Two from Jawa. Powered by a 293cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine; the Forty Two makes a maximum power figure of 27.3hp and has a weight of 171 kilograms. Therefore, it has a power-to-weight ratio of 159.6hp per tonne.

KTM Duke 200- The orange baby hooligan is all about power because so far on the list, this is the first 200cc motorcycle that has made an appearance. With 25hp of power on the twist of the wrist, this Austrian motorcycle weighing 159 kilograms makes a power-to-weight ratio of 157.2hp per tonne.
