BGauss D15i and D15 Pro: New Biggies in the EV Space
In 2020, BGauss made its official debut with the A2 and B8 electric scooters. Now, after two long years, the company has launched its third electric scooter named D15
Mumbai-based electric scooter manufacturer BGauss has launched its third electric scooter in the Indian market named D15. The company has launched two variants of the D15 i.e., D15i (runs on a lithium-ion battery) and D15Pro (runs on the same battery but also features a secondary valve-regulated lead-acid battery). In the following paragraphs, we have compiled the rest of the details about the newly-launched D15.
Electric motor
The two variants of the D15 are powered by the same 3.1kW PMSM electric motor that is tuned to produce a peak torque of 110Nm. In terms of performance, BGauss claims that the two scooters can reach up to 60 kilometres per hour of top speed in the Sport mode with a capability of 0 to 40 kilometres per hour in seven seconds. However, in the Eco mode, the top speed of the two scooters falls to 50 kilometres per hour. Note that the scooters only feature two modes (Sport and Eco) along with a Reverse mode.
Charging time and riding range
The D15i features 3.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack that is IP67 rated and is removable. A standard charger can chargethe scooter to 100 per cent in five hours whereas an 80 per cent charge can be attained in four hours. However, for those with less time in hand, a fast charger that charges the scooter fully in one hour and 30 minutes, would be an ideal pick.
Moving on to the D15Pro, the charging time of the variant is identical to the D15i variant and the only difference is the secondary valve-regulated lead-acid battery. In terms of riding range, both the variants of the BGauss D15 offer an ARAI-certified riding range of 115 kilometres.
Rest of the hardware
Both the iterations feature a full metal body with tubular steel chassis, LED headlight, telescopic fork at the front and twin-shock absorbers at the rear, drum brakes on both ends, digital instrument cluster, anti-theft alert, side stand sensor, USB charging socket, battery consumption indicator and distance-to-empty indicator.
However, the D15Pro is armed with app-based connectivity that comprises geo-fencing, roll-over alert, low battery signals, OTA updates, charge status, find my vehicle system and more.
Last but not the least, D15i begins at INR 99,999 whereas the D15Pro has been priced at around INR 1.15 lakh.
