Biggest Motorcycle Rallies in the World

In the past few decades, some of the motorcycle rallies in the world have witnessed growth at an exponential rate

After the invention of the motorcycle, thousands of companies jumped into the business and started selling motorcycles. Soon, motorcycles not only turned into a means of transportation but also a commodity that provides recreation. Groups of riders or motorcycle enthusiasts gave birth to racing events, motorcycle festivals, launch events, shows and rallies. In this article, we have listed some of the biggest motorcycle rallies held around the world.

Sturgis Rally

Held in Sturgis, South Dakota (USA), the rally was organised for the first time in 1983 by the Jack Pine Gypsies. Since then, the rally has been conducted every single year except during World War II; it was skipped two times. The rally takes place for 10 days and during that period, around half a million riders from different parts of the world take part in the rally.

Daytona Bike Week

If there is any motorcycle rally that can match the stature of the Sturgis rally, it is the Daytona Bike Week. Technically, the Daytona Bike Week is not a rally but a festival because it comprises record-making runs, displays of upcoming motorcycles, etc. However, every year, lakhs of riders reach the Atlantic Coast of Florida in groups, making it a motorcycle rally as well. The Bike Week was inaugurated 80 years ago.

Elefantentreffen

Held in Germany, Elefantentreffen is a winter motorcycle rally that is conducted in February every year. The word Elefantentreffen translates to the Elephant Rally because the rally is one of the oldest in Europe. Inaugurated in 1965, riders from different parts of the planet cover continents to reach Loh-Thurmansbang-Sola; a tiny German town near the Czech Republic border.

Rally Stella Alpina

First held in 1984, the Rally Stella Alpina is not only a motorcycle rally but also a motorcycle rally racing event in Italy. To take part in the rally, one needs to reach the foothills of the Alps located close to a town named Bardonecchia. The town is near the international border that separates Italy from France. Out of all the rallies, this one offers the most serene experience because of its picturesque location.

Last but not the least, a few more famous motorcycle rallies in the world are European Bike Week, Wheels & Waves, Krystall Rally and India Bike Week.
