When it comes to Bollywood, we can think of brilliant coloured props, recurring songs, a distinct hero, heroine and a villain. But with time, the industry has developed and experimented with a wide range of techniques and research to overcome the difference and produce excellent works of art and entertainment. Method acting refers to living in the life of a character. Here are a few distinct Bollywood actors who portrayed some excellent characters and won our heart straightway.

  • Aamir Khan- Mahavir Singh Phogat (Dangal)
The 2016 biographical film Dangal, directed by Nitesh Tiwari is loosely made on the Phogat family. Mahavir Singh Phogat, who is an amateur wrestler, trains his daughters to be world-class female wrestlers in a male-dominated society. Essentially for this movie, Aamir underwent a major physical transformation from a potbelly father to the physique of a professional wrestler.
  • Ranveer Singh- Allauddin Khilji (Padmaavat)
Even if you did not see the movie, the praise it collected must have echoed in your ear canals. Be it critics or audience, Ranveer as Allauddin Khilji in the Sanjay LeelaBhansali film Padmaavat was undoubtedly exemplary.

In his previous movies, he has unquestionably done justice to all his roles and is one of the most distinguished actors in Indian cinema, but with this movie, he indeed took a giant leap in his career.

The top-notch acting, physical transformation and change of body language to give an authentic performance is what we just can’t get out of our head.

  • Rajkumar Rao- Shaurya (Trapped)
The new legendary actor is known to be dedicated to every role he plays. In Vikramaditya Motwane’s movie, Trapped, Rajkummar played the character of Shaurya, who was a call centre employee who got confined in an apartment without food, water and electricity.

In the twenty days shoot, he commented, that it was one of the most challenging projects he had undertaken. He also lost a considerable amount of weight to make his role convincing. For about three weeks the actor survived only on carrots and black coffee, which made his ribcage visible to make him look even more authentic.

  • Ranbir Kapoor- Sanjay Dutt (Sanju)
The talk of the town since its very release, Sanju is all about the actor Sanjay Dutt and his controversial life. As for the acting, Ranbir Kapoor nailed the role. Be it the physical transformation or studying the mannerism of real life Sanju, he totally adapted the lifestyle till the end of the shoot. Ranbir also confesses that he made numerous calls to Sanjay Dutt during his shoot to know about how he would react in a particular situation to learn from his interpretation.
