Only four bowlers - James Anderson, Pragyan Ojha, Ravichandran Ashwin and Kemar Roach - have dismissed Kane Williamson 5 or more times in test cricket. Kane Williamson is one of the best batsmen in the world for good reason. He has scored over 7000 runs from 85 test matches at an average of 53.95 and a strike rate of 51.76 with 24 centuries and 33 half centuries, with the best of 251 and still has a lot of runs in him.
He made his test debut against India at Ahmedabad in November 2010 and stood out right from that point on. Williamson has continued to go strong in test cricket and is one of the few players averaging in excess of 50 in modern day test cricket.
He has a sensational record at home, having made 3788 runs from 41 test matches at an average of 65.31 with 13 centuries and 18 half centuries and the best of 251.
The Kiwi captain is not troubled by most bowlers around the world. Here are the notable exceptions:
7 - Anderson If anyone has Williamson's number, it is James Anderson who has dismissed him 7 times in test cricket. Anderson has bowled Williamson twice, caught behind 4 times and dismissed leg before wicket once.
Anderson has dismissed Williamson 7 times in 18 innings which is close to once every two innings. These are brilliant figures given the quality of the batsman.
5 - P Ojha Former Indian left arm spinner Pragyan Ojha has also done well against Williamson and dismissed him 5 times from 10 innings. 4 of those have been caught while one has been leg before wicket.
Understandably, Ojha particularly on Indian surfaces was very tough to face for right handers as you never knew which ball would come in with the angle and which one would spin away.
5 - Ashwin Just like Ojha, Ravichandran Ashwin has enjoyed the Indian conditions against Kane Williamson as the world class batsman has found it tough to counter Ashwin on the spinning wickets of India. Ashwin has dismissed Williamson 5 times - twice bowled, twice lbw and once caught.
5 - K Roach Kemar Roach has also dismissed Kane Williamson on five occasions in test cricket. Bowled thrice, caught once and caught and bowled once.
That said, Williamson has faced Roach on 14 occasions. Hence, dismissing him once in almost every three innings which is not as impressive as the achievements of James Anderson or even Pragyan Ojha.
