Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche; these are names of just a few car brands that are prominent around the world for their fast and posh automobiles. However, there is another element they are renowned for and i.e., racing. In this feature, we have listed the car brands that do not just manufacture cars but also are into racing.
Honda- From Japan, Honda has consistently had a racing heritage. The corporation has been an engine supplier in Formula One since time immemorial. At present, Honda is the engine supplier of Red Bull Racing, which is one of the biggest F1 teams in the world. Not just Formula One, but Honda has also taken part in the World Rally Championship. Not to forget, the motorcycle division of Honda also has its racing team in MotoGP.
Ferrari- One of the most successful teams in the world of Formula One, Scuderia Ferrari, which is the racing division of Ferrari, started its journey in 1939. Since then, the team has accomplished numerous F1 constructors’ titles. Not to forget, the team has demonstrated its mettle in the illustrious Le Mans for decades.
Mercedes-Benz- It is accurate that the Mercedes-Benz factory racing team was established only in 2010 and, since 2014, they have been unrivalled in Formula One; thanks to Sir Lewis Hamilton. However, the German brand’s racing history dates back to the 1930s, 40s and 50s. In the mentioned eras, they did not just take part in Formula One, but also at Le Mans.
Ford- We have all watched Ford vs. Ferrari, haven’t we? If yes, you know Ford has a history of winning at Le Mans. However, in the present times; the World Rally Championship is all about Ford. In the off-road racing segment, Ford is doing extremely well.
Volkswagen- No Formula One or Le Mans, Volkswagen displays its racing prowess at the Dakar Rally. The company also organizes the Volkswagen Cup in the UK where their cars race against each other. The same competition is called the Polo Cup in India. Not to forget, they play a part in Formula Three.
Porsche- When it comes to dominating Le Mans, there is simply nobody better than Porsche. So far, the luxurious car manufacturing brand has won 20 Le Mans titles. Be it the 70s or 80s, Porsche has always been ahead of almost every other team at Le Mans.
