Common diseases in monsoon season that you should know about

We all love the monsoon season; however, it not only brings joy but also a lot of diseases.

From June through September, India experiences yearly rainfall that provides solace from the sweltering heat. Regretfully, even though it offers relief, it also tends to spread a number of diseases and viruses. In monsoon season one does have a greater chance of being exposed to germs, viruses and other illnesses than in other seasons. Several monsoon diseases go undetected until they have had a significant impact on a human's body. So, let’s look at some of the diseases beforehand.

Chikungunya

Mosquitoes that spawn in standing water discovered in air conditioning units, fridges, plants, cookware, and pipes are the main carriers of Chikungunya. Aedes albopictus mosquitoes transmit this illness through their bite. This mosquito can peck you at whatever moment during the day or night. Fever and joint pain are among the most prevalent symptoms of chikungunya. Fatigue and chills are also experienced by some patients.

Malaria

Malaria is transmitted by a female anopheles mosquito that spawns in swampy areas. In the monsoons, malaria becomes the most common ailment. Malaria's most observable signs include fatigue, chills, and fever. The best way to prevent the disease from spreading is by cleaning water tanks in the house frequently and keeping the environment tidy.

Dengue

Dengue is the most widespread disease induced by tiger mosquitoes. Clinical signs of dengue involve, among other stuff, a high fever, low number of platelets, skin irritation, and oversensitivity. Using insect repellents and plants that repel mosquitoes such as citronella can help in keeping your home and workplace safe. Moreover, it is going to be beneficial to wear clothes that cover the entire body in order to prevent dengue fever. However, the best method would be to get proper medical care after getting diagnosed with dengue.

Cholera

Cholera is another monsoon disease that is caused by drinking contaminated water and taking contaminated food. This disease mainly occurs due to poor hygiene and sanitation. Common symptoms of cholera are low blood pressure, cramps in the muscles and rapid heart rate. The ways to prevent this disease from getting worse are drinking boiled water, avoiding food items that are kept open for a long period of time and maintaining cleanliness.

These four diseases are common during the monsoon season and preventive measures should be taken to avoid getting sick.
