These habits may seem normal but are dangerous to your health.
In a day we do many things without knowing the effect of it on our health. Where general bad habits like drinking less water, sleeping late, etc have been pointed out to us, there are some very common habits that we all have in our daily life without knowing their adverse effect on our health. And when we are talking about health it does not only mean our physical state but also our mental state too. Listed below are some of the bad habits that are unknowingly sabotaging our health, which we need to work on.
Using plastic containers for storage
To store our day to day meal and even as a tiffin box we generally use plastic containers but you may didn’t know that it comes with a cost. Many of these containers contain BPA which is a chemical that can interfere with weight loss because it makes it harder for you to feel full. Therefore it is recommended to buy containers that are BPA- free.
Using a hand dryer
Hand dryer may seem more environmentally friendly than paper towels and tissues but it also has a negative side to it. Some research has shown that the hand dryers in public restrooms blow fecal germs back onto your hands. The fecal germs can be anything from bacteria to potential pathogens and spores. That is why it is better to use your handkerchief than to dry your hands on the dryer.
Eating just before going to bed
Digestion is a complex process that needs both balance in diet and healthier activities. Eating just before going to bed may disrupt your digestion and lead to indigestion and acid reflux. Lying down with a full stomach may cause acid reflux, bloating, belching and other gastronomical cases. Therefore it is advisable to have at least a gap of an hour after dinner and going to bed.
Taking your phone to the bed
While most of us think that listening to music or watching a movie will make us feel drowsier and help us fall asleep, it works the opposite way. Due to bright light, the level of a hormone called melatonin, which regulates our sleep, decreases which results in more sleepless nights. And sleepless nights may cause health repercussions like insomnia, decreased concentration, impaired immunity, and heart conditions. Therefore it is important to make a habit of not taking your phone or any electronic gadget to the bed at night.
