Companies should make strategic plan about “Burn out”

“Burn out” is a mental, physical and emotional condition that is originated from excessive work-related stress.

Only a few years ago, people were not aware of such conditions. However, the modern-day complexity of the world has created a paradigm change in the work culture of   different concerns, especially those in corporate sectors. Employees are always on their toes and bent down with the burden of time-bound targets.

With the advancement of civilization, the complexity of the world is gradually increasing along with the increase of stress in everyday life. But simple stress is not burn out. Some amount of stress is even good for us, as it gives us some target to reach out in life. "Burn out" is essentially work-related stress, that becomes over-bearing and relentless.

There are certain causes for burn out, such as:

Ordered to perform a job without sufficient resources.

The employee does not know why he is performing some job and does not have any control over what he is doing.

Physical isolation of the employees from the world or work-related bullying.

The employee’s sense of value is in contradiction with those of the organization in which he is employed.

His work is not appreciated.

Most important aspect of burn out is that we should treat is as organizational problem rather than individual problem. But, organization leaders have a tendency to lay out the burden on individual employee and try to showcase it as a lack of confidence on the part of the employee. It is totally wrong. In fact, organizations should deliberate over the problem and try to seek out the root cause of burn out and make a policy to prevent it.

Scientific research has shown that burnout can be prevented if the leadership policy of the organization can be changed from giving orders to involving employees in the decision-making and team building. However, the traditional mindset of the employers creates a great hindrance to introduce new leadership policies. The main idea behind the prevention of burn out is creating a safe and peaceful environment for the employees, so that they have a sense of belonging within the organization.

The leadership also restricts the working hour, so that the employees feel well-rested before attacking a target.

Thus, it is the company’s prerogative to create a well -documented strategy for prevention of burn out in their employees.
