Countdown to the best Modern Family episodes

Modern Family is so much more than just about family.

It takes a lot of genius to make comedy work. Modern Family does it well. With realistic comedy, amazing storytelling, television craftsmanship and a set of actors who mesh together so well, it’s hard to believe these are all unique characters living/trying to co-exist in the same family. Modern Family’s hilarious tale might have come to an end, but we are here to celebrate the episodes that left their marks.

Here is a countdown to Modern Family’s absolute best episodes.

  1. Pilot – The pilot episode that ended with adopted Lily being introduced to the families. The disparate families shown separately turns out to be one whole family at the end, with a plot twist in the end. The pilot made it mark well and piqued our interests.
  2. Punkin Chunkin – An episode of dreamers versus realists – the entire family comes together for a fun Thanksgiving dinner but instead gets roped to prove Cam’s story right. A landmark episode with fun quotes at the end.
  3. Las Vegas – The entire family takes a trip to Las Vegas where wrong timing and a lot of presumptions arise confusion and a fight for rooms at the top floor. There are Irish men; there’s a magic business and also involves a dog butler.
  4. Spread your Wings – A parental crisis moment where Phil gets emotionally latched onto ducks. Long story short: the ducks are metaphorically his children that he is unable to let go so easily.
  5. Fizbo – Cam’s persona clown Fizbo makes an appearance in Luke’s birthday party. Haley gets jealous and seeks revenge, and the party that was supposed to be fun turned out…a bit chaotic.
  6. The Prescott – The families pay a visit to Alex’s new apartment building. Merchant Higgin’s returns for another episode after Las Vegas and caters to the needs and whims of every guest.
  7. Connection Lost – Connection Lost strays away from the format of the show. The entire episode is via Claire’s perspective. While waiting to board on an eight-hour flight, Claire discovers some alarming news that she shares with the family via text messages, video calls and sappy music.
  8. Schooled – The Dunphys get into an emotional journey as they drop off Haley at school, Cam and Mitch come at odds with other parents and Jay and Gloria attend a parenting class. A well- rounded episode that deserves a shoutout.
