David Miller refuses to fade away

It appeared that David Miller's career was over, before it wasn't.

David Miller hadn't been able to do what he was known for in the IPL since 2015 onwards after which he was released by Punjab Kings.

Killer Miller

He wasn't able to do anything substantial for Rajasthan Royals as well. However, Gujarat Titans showed their faith in him and bought him at the IPL 2022 mega auctions.

That this was a 10 team IPL also went in favour of David Miller who got consistent chances and an opportunity to show that he still has it in him as he helped Gujarat Titans in lifting the IPL 2022 title.

GT won as many as five matches in the last over in the competition and many of those were credit to David Miller who showed that he was still an exceptional finisher.

Miller was always a good player against pacers but somehow wasn't able to replicate his success against spinners. However, he has now become an all round player by including sweep shots and using his feet against the spinners which makes him a very difficult batter to bowl against.

Sleek stats David Miller finished as the third highest run scorer for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2022 with 481 runs from 16 matches. He produced a sensational average of 68.71 which is even more striking given that he did at a strike rate of 142.72. Miller hit two half centuries including his best for 98 not out.

He comes out to bat in the last few overs when the pressure is really high and every run scored at that point counts for almost double. He was among the most impactful players in the 15th edition of the IPL.

International career resurrected Miller's international career has also got a new lease of life. David Miller is still just 33 but gives the impression of being much older. The simple reason behind that is he started as a young boy and has been plying his trade for a long time now.

But given his second wind, there is little doubt that he can still carry on for 4-5 years and achieve many more things, both in international cricket and at the IPL level.

Overall, David Miller has scored close to 2500 runs from 105 IPL matches at an average of 36.64 and a strike rate of 137.69.
