Decoding the Right Use of Lemon Juice on Acne

Lemon juice has been an indispensable part of skincare woes such as blemishes and acne and rightfully so!

Several skincare products that target spots, breakouts, and acne are blessed with the goodness of citrus fruits for their antioxidant quotient. Lemon being a citrus fruit has been in the skincare regimen for centuries. It has a high amount of Vitamin C which works on lightening dark spots, scars, and blemishes and stimulates collagen. With a scheduled application of lemon juice on the skin, you may also notice a visible reduction in hyperpigmentation and signs of ageing.

Here are some DIY ideas for a healthy and glowing skin:

Lemon is a natural ingredient replete with healing and therapeutic properties but should never be applied directly to the face which is why you will need a list of recipes for the right use

Honey and Lemon Face Mask

A redemptive potion if your skin is recovering from heavy breakouts and has a propensity to look dull. You will need organic honey, lemon juice, and water to dilute the mixture before applying it on a clean face. This face pack works wonders and lends a youthful glow to the skin reducing spots and excess oil. Certainly, a good routine to follow ahead of a party!

Lemon Juice and Water

The appeal of this remedy lies in its simplicity and effectiveness. You simply have to mix lemon juice and water and dab the mix on the acne-affected regions with a cotton ball. Rinse off after 15-20 minutes. This ritual can be done every alternate day if you are experiencing a stubborn and ferocious bout of acne attack. Always hydrate your skin after this procedure for it may leave your skin a bit dry and lacking in nourishment.

Turmeric and Lemon Pack

Lemon juice has plenty of ascorbic acid which is a perfect antidote for acne-prone skin. In this combo, you get the goodness of turmeric which is known to battle wounds, skin conditions, and blemishes. Turmeric and lemon face pack fights against photoaging and pimples leaving the skin supple and revitalised.

You will need half a slice of lemon, rose water if not plan water, powdered turmeric, and organic honey for a fine paste. Apply this evenly on the face and leave for a couple of minutes before washing off with lukewarm water. Witness magic after repeating for 2-3 times a week.

Gram Flour and Lemon Magic Pack

Gram flour is an amazing exfoliant which removes dead skin cells, reduces tanning, and evens out the skin tone. The presence of lemon actively thwarts acne. This facepack combo is known to reduce sebum production which is one of the main culprits behind inexplicable breakouts.

Mix the lemon juice, gram flour, rose water, and honey and apply carefully till it is even and uniformly applied. Let it dry before rinsing off with warm water.

Lemon Juice and Vaseline

Quite an underrated, stellar remedy to acne, this paste is a potent weapon against breakouts and scars. All you need to do is squeeze the juice in a bowl and add Vaseline to it. Mix the ingredients into a thick paste and apply with a brush. Rinse off with a gentle facial cleanser. The procedure can be repeated once in a week to prevent pimples and help the skin heal.

The Best Practices of Using Lemon Juice

Before integrating lemon juice into skincare routine, it is always wise to do a patch test and determine if you are allergic to it. Besides diluting the juice to prevent a sharp, stinging sensation, apply moisturiser after the treatment. Do not use stale lemon for skin; ever.
