Empowered women are a significant need for society.

Women today are pushing norms, breaking barriers, and going against the grain. They may realise their potential and significantly improve their communities after receiving access to healthcare, employment opportunities, education, and impactful positions. In order to create a fairer society where everyone, regardless of gender, may live, empowered women act as a catalyst.

In today's article, we shall learn five inspiring stories of women who broke the barriers to inspire us all.

  1. Malala Yousafzai, an Education Activist: Through her support for girls' education, Pakistani activist Malala Yousafzai rose to prominence as a global representation of women's empowerment. Malala continued to promote female equality and education despite threats from the Taliban. Escaping an attempted murder, she continued to fight for every child's right to an education and became the youngest recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
  2. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf- Political Trailblazer: She created history as the first female president of Liberia and the first female head of state in Africa. She led her nation while promoting economic growth, stability, and peace through difficult times. In addition to shattering gender boundaries, Johnson Sirleaf's leadership encouraged a new generation of women to enter politics and take on leadership roles with integrity.
  3. Malvika Iyer- Disability Rights Activist:Malvika Iyer is a motivational speaker and disability rights activist who lost her hands in a bomb blast when she was thirteen. Despite her physical limitations, she continued her schooling, earned her PhD, and established herself as a champion for accessibility and equality. Malvika's motivational journey is a wonderful example of tenacity and turning misfortune into strength.

Serena Williams- Tennis Champion and Advocate: American tennis star Serena Williams has revolutionised women's sports by dominating the tennis world through her outstanding talent and determination. Despite the obstacles and discrimination, she encountered during her career, she became one of the best athletes. Serena also speaks out against discrimination and fights for fair pay in sports while using her position to promote gender equality.
  5. Leymah Gbowee- Peacebuilder and Feminist: Leymah Gbowee, a peace campaigner from Liberia, was instrumental in ending her country's civil conflict and advancing women's rights. She organised women from all backgrounds to take a stance for peace via action and nonviolent protests. Together with other women, Gbowee's work helped to successfully negotiate peace treaties and establish women's vital role in conflict resolution.
