Differentiating Factors of Scram 450 and Himalayan 450

A few weeks ago, the spy pictures of the upcoming Himalayan 450 went viral on the internet and now, the test mule of the Scram 450 has been caught testing on the Indian streets

A few weeks ago, the world got a glimpse of the upcoming Himalayan 450. Now, spy shots of the Scram 450 have gone viral on the internet. For the unversed souls, Royal Enfield has been working on the Himalayan 450, which is likely to replace the existing Himalayan 411. Going by the recent spy shots, we can confirm that the Chennai-based firm is also developing a Scram 450 to replace the existing Scram 411.

What is the importance of this article?

Since its debut, the Himalayan has proved itself to be a great motorcycle in the 400cc adventure-tourer segment. The motorcycle has enjoyed success over the years and therefore, a few months ago, Royal Enfield launched the Scram 411; a scrambler based on the Himalayan 411 to take on rival Yezdi Scrambler.

However, the two motorcycles have been criticised by a majority of motorcycle enthusiasts because of their low-powered engines (nowhere near the KTM 390 ADV). Therefore, we believe Royal Enfield is working on the two motorcycles to compete with the KTM 390 ADV.

How different is the test mule of Scram 450?

The test mule of the Scram 450 looks much smaller and compact compared to the test mule of the Himalayan 450. At the moment, it is hard to write the exact details of the spied motorcycle, but going by the pictures; we believe the spied Scram 450’s fuel tank is smaller than the Himalayan. Not to forget, it was caught without the jerrycan holders and tail rack.

Other differences

The test mule of the Himalayan 450 was armed with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels setup along with USD forks at the front and a split-seat layout. However, the spied Scram 450 was caught with a conventional telescopic suspension setup at the front, single-seat layout and 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends. Not to forget, the Scram 450 was also caught with fork gaiters.

Similarities between the two motorcycles

As mentioned above, at the moment, it is impossible to write anything with surety about the two upcoming motorcycles because they are a work in progress and are in the early phase of development. However, we can claim that a single 450cc, liquid-cooled engine with similar power figures will power the two motorcycles, as is the case with the Himalayan 411 and Scram 411.
