Digitised Education: Advantages And Disadvantages

Online learning: A blessing or curse?

Outbreaks of the Corona Pandemic have led to the proliferation of online education systems worldwide. As a result of online learning, even in this pandemic, students have the opportunity to study at home even though the school and colleges are closed. On the other hand, many people cannot take online education due to a lack of suitable electronics gadgets. Let's have a look at the pros and cons of this system of education:

Advantages of digitised education:

Online learning is a popular medium in the age of smartphones and laptops. Students from home and abroad have been getting the benefits of this system for a long time. The world was shut down in 2020 due to the global pandemic in 2019. Since then, this 'online learning' process has become popular. It maintains studying and giving exams to the students through their smartphones or laptop while sitting at home. In the case of online learning, students can conveniently take education through 'Synchronised Learning' and 'A synchronised Learning'. Students can take 'Live Online Classes' or later study through 'Recorded Version'. Students get access to education through teachers from anywhere in the world through 'Online Learning App's and social mediums like 'Google' on 'YouTube'. The importance of digital education in today's pandemic and the post-pandemic world is undeniable.

Disadvantages of digital education:

A recent UNICEF report states that 463 million students worldwide do not access online learning. Children in remote and financially disadvantaged areas, in particular, are completely deprived of access to digital learning. In India, over 1.5 million schools have been closed due to the Covid virus, and 600 million students have lost their education. Students in developing countries suffer because of a lack of money to buy smartphones and other electronic gadgets, including laptops.

How lower-income groups are affected: The other reality

Many children have had to quit studying forever in search of a livelihood due to school closures; many girls have been forced to get married due to school closures indefinitely. The lives of these children deprived of fundamental human rights like educational opportunities have been ruined forever. Its impact will be a social and financial loss to our country in the future. Also, in the 'online education system', since there is no need to go to school, children are having mental problems due to being alone at home without friends. They are becoming irritable, feeling lonely and above all, becoming selfish, self-centred individualists, which is alarming enough for the future of our society.
