Engaging viewers: New streamer tips

Pro tip: Engagement doesn’t stop when the stream ends.

When you turn your passion for gaming to live-streaming games, you depend the growth of your channel on your viewers. Maintaining viewership depends on keeping your views depend on keeping the viewers engaged while also welcoming new viewers enough to make them stay. Yea, it is not an easy thing.

Before you give you run divided attention to little pointes we set for you, remember streaming needs patience and you will see your channel grow after putting a lot of effort into it. What we are saying is, building a community and a channel takes time and don’t lose heart if you don’t see growth within the first week or month.

Build a network before you start streaming

If you watch other streamers play games, be interactive in their chats. Engage with other viewers. Make yourself known (but not in self-promoting way). If the streamers play multiplayer games, join up when they do open lobbies. That way you can build up a gaming relationship with other viewers. Chances are you will add each other on Steam and build up a good rapport. That way when you do start streaming you will have people who you already know and who will come watch your streams.

Use the right equipment

When it comes to engaging viewers, nothing turns a viewer away if you pixelated stream, low quality stream or a bad audio. You don’t need the best microphone or Pc right away, but make sure your internet can handle playing online games smoothly along with streaming at a good quality. Also, audio is a big part of live streaming. If your viewers can’t hear you properly, they might not tune in again.

Welcome new comers and love our lurkers

Lurkers make up a lot of your viewers. Lurkers do not want to type in chat (hence the name) so don’t call them out (even though you can see who is lurking). If there are new viewers joining, welcome them to the stream. If your chat is running dry, you can always talk about the game and what you wanna do in that stream.

Engage offline

Make a Discord channel and post link in your chat. Most gamers would like to use the app to find players. Make Discord a place where people can chill. Be active there as well. Viewers who join can interact with you and other viewers. If they like your streams, they can tell their other friends to join for streams,

Set small goals

Give yourself small goals to fulfill: Get 50 follows or stream for 3 days every day. Setting yourself unrealistic goals will make you dishearten when you don’t fulfil them.
