Alastair Cook represented England in test cricket between 2006 and 2018. He scored 2431 runs from 30 test matches against India with the best of 294. Cook batted at an average of 47.6 against India which included seven centuries, nine half centuries and one duck.
Fans will remember the way Cook pitched his tent on the wicket and did not budge. Incidentally, he made his test debut against India at Nagpur in 2006 and retired against India at The Oval in September 2018 with flying colours, scoring a memorable century in his final test match.
Joe Root 1789 The current England captain Joe Root has also taken a liking to India. He made his test debut in 2012 against India at Nagpur and is still going strong. Root has scored a total of 8617 runs from more than 100 test matches at an average of close to 50 and a strike rate of 54.95 including 20 centuries and 49 half centuries. He also has 37 wickets to his name.
Root has scored 1789 runs against India from 36 test innings at an average of 54.21 and the best of 218, which he struck in Chennai recently in the first test match of the four match series between India and England. Root has scored five centuries and nine half centuries against India in test matches.
Graham Gooch 1725 Graham Gooch is remembered for his iconic 333 against India, when was dropped by Sunil Gavaskar quite early on in the match. From 19 test matches, Gooch scored 1725 runs against India at an average of 55.64. He also struck five centuries and eight half centuries against the opposition.
Goochy finished his test career with 8900 runs from 118 test matches at an average of 42.58 and a strike rate of 49.23. He faced over 18000 deliveries in his test career and struck 20 centuries and 46 half centuries.
Kevin Pietersen 1581 Kevin Pietersen scored 1581 runs against India in test cricket between 2006 and 2012 from 16 test matches. He made his runs at an average of 58.55 with six centuries and six half centuries and the best of 202 not out.
David Gower 1391 David Gower also made over 1300 runs against India from 24 test matches at an average of 44.87 and the best of 200 not out.
