Everything You Need to Know About the Third “Spider-Man” Movie

The yet untitled third “Spider-Man” movie starring Tom Holland is set to release in December 2021.

The work has already begun on the third movie of the renowned “Spider-Man” series where Tom Holland will continue to play the titular character. Reprising his villainous role of Electro, Jamie Foxx along with “Doctor Strange” fame British actor Benedict Cumberbatch will also reportedly star in the movie. The production work on this movie is slated to begin in November with director Jon Watts. The film is being produced by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures. Here’s some insider’s info on this much-awaited venture-

Jamie Foxx to reprise his villainous act

In 2014’s “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” Jamie Foxx played the villain’s character. In the movie, which also starred Andrew Garfield as the web-slinger, the former electrical engineer from the Oscorp Industries and Harry Osborn teamed up against Spider-Man. Foxx’s character explodes in the end after Gwen Stacy and Spider-Man direct a blast of energy at him. It remains a mystery as to how this character will be again incorporated in the new franchise.

Simmons may be back as J. Jonah Jameson

Following his cameo in “Spider-Man: Far From Home,” speculation is rife that Simmons may reprise his role as J. Jonah Jameson, the tabloid head. During the "The Jess Cagle Show" in 2020, he stated "There is a future for J. Jonah Jameson after a several-year hiatus” and even revealed that there’s more of JJJ appearance on the cards. He has previously played this role in the Tobey Maguire starred “Spier-Man” trilogy.

The actor previously played the beloved character in Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man" trilogy that starred Tobey Maguire.

Benedict Cumberbatch likely to return as Doctor Strange

The first meeting between Spider-Man and Doctor Strange happened in space in the 2018 movie “Avengers: Infinity War.” Since both the characters reside in New York City, there are high chances of Cumberbatch making an appearance in the new Spider-Man movie.

The movie is expected to hit theatres on December 17, 2021

Announced in September 2019, the movie’s release date was initially fixed as July 16, 2021. However, in April it was pushed back due to the ongoing global pandemic. Now the movie is set to release on December 17, 2021. As the pandemic is showing no sign of slowing down, there are chances of the release date again being pushed back in near future.
