F1 101: Russell In, Bottas Out, Kimi Says Bye

In the upcoming season of 2022, George Russell will drive for Mercedes in place of Bottas, whereas Bottas will replace Kimi at Romeo

A few months ago, transfers in the football world took our minds apart. Now, in Formula One, the scenario is almost the same. Mercedes has announced that Valtteri Bottas will leave them in the upcoming season of 2022 because the team has finally signed George Russell, who has been linked with Mercedes for a long time. On the other hand, Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen has made his mind to leave the world of Formula One at the end of the 2021 season. A lot more is happening in the Formula One offices and therefore, we have written a brief about those developments in this article.

Alex Albon returns- Alex Albon returning to Formula One world is one of the biggest news so far. The young Thai driver has displayed his capabilities with team Red Bull. However, inconsistencies did not allow him to stay on the F1 grid in 2021. Lady Luck has shone in Albon’s favour because next year, he will drive for legacy team Williams Racing.

Tsunoda, Gasly stay put- For Alpha Tauri, there will be no changes as the team has confirmed that both their present drivers will continue to drive for them in the 2022 season. Therefore, no new teams for Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda in 2022. While Yuki Tsunoda is happy about the news, Gasly expects to hijack Perez’s seat at Honda Red Bull Racing. Although, the chances of that happening are extremely slim.

Kimi says bye- Hailing from Espoo, Finland; Kimi Raikkonen is all set to leave the world of racing behind as the 41-year-old has announced to retire from the fastest motorsport on earth at the end of the 2021 season. Picked up the world championship trophy in 2007 for Scuderia Ferrari, Kimi is a personality from Formula One who is not hated by anybody and to everyone, he is “The Iceman”.

Bottas out, Russell in- A gem of a racer who has the capacity of becoming a world champion, Bottas will leave Mercedes at the end of the season after spending five years with the team. A former Williams driver, Bottas is set to replace Kimi at Alfa Romeo. To replace Bottas at Mercedes, 22-year-old Russell will join the Merc team in 2022. The young driver has been heavily linked with the Mercedes team because, in the eyes of many, he is the next significant thing.
