F1 Pit Crew Salaries in 2022

An integral part of every Formula One team, F1 pit crew members receive a handsome salary every year along with many benefits and bonus amount

As we are all aware, Formula One is not a one-man sport. Every team on the F1 grid comprises thousands of members. From engineers to physiotherapists and pit crews, every member of an F1 team is an unsung hero. However, when compared to other team members, F1 pit crews are slightly more special because their duty directly impacts the outcome of a race.

If an F1 crew completes a fast pitstop, the drivers of that team get an edge. On the other hand, if an F1 crew messes up a pitstop, the racers of that team suffer poorly. In short, during the races, an F1 pit crew plays the most crucial role. Given the importance of their job, F1 pit crew members are paid handsomely. In the following paragraphs, let us look at the pay scale of F1 crew members.

The boss

The crew chief is the boss of the pit crew, who orders what to do and what not to do. Therefore, he is the highest-paid member of the team with an annual salary of one million dollars.

Carriers

Tyre changers are assisted by tyre carriers who help the changers to replace the tyres at a rapid pace. Carriers are paid the same salary as changers i.e., 3,50,000 US dollars plus a race win bonus.

Lifters

Jackmen or lifters lift the cars when they reach the pit stop. Not to forget, they are also responsible for dropping the car off as soon as possible so that the racers can leave the stop. Jackmen receive 1,50,000 US dollars annually.

Wingmen

The job of wingmen is to adjust the wings of the F1 cars. They are paid the same amount received by jackmen.
